Eternally grateful, and saddened at its decline into the stupid, pompous and wasteful DEI desert.

The Virginia bar has a record of a James Edward Ryan, Jr. (Associate In Good Standing)
but the only Magill is an Amanda Graham Magill of Arlington and I can’t see that as being “Liz.” The three living “Magill” listings in the Pennsylvania bar lookup have male names.

I’m not so certain that Liz Magill is a lawyer, i.e. a member of a state bar. I personally know two academic administrators whom others identify as “lawyers” but who were merely law school grads. Most people in academia don’t know the difference.

Hence, if someone says she is a lawyer, I’m going to look it up, and “Liz Magill” ain’t there.
